Sol [Kurzw. aus lat. solutio = Lösung], das; -s, -e: kolloidchem. Bez. für ein disperses System (↑ Dispersion, 1), in dem sich die Teilchen der dispersen Phase frei im Dispersionsmittel bewegen können. Ist dieses gasförmig, spricht man von Aerosolen, ist es flüssig, insbes. wässrig oder eine org. Fl., von Lyosolen, Hydrosolen bzw. Organosolen. Unter Einwirkung von Flockungsmitteln gehen S. in ↑ Gele über. – Ggs.: Gel.

[nach dem Computerredakteur Leslie Solomon], ein 1976 von der Firma Processor Technologies eingeführter Mikrocomputer, der - anders als ähnliche Entwicklungen wie der Altair 8800 oder der Kenbak-1 - fertig montiert und nicht als Bausatz angeboten wurde. Damit gilt er als der erste für den allgemeinen Gebrauch konzipierte Computer überhaupt.
